Advanced surgical techniques for the best possible results
At Houston Surgical Group, we believe the success of a surgery doesn't just depend on the outcome of the actual surgery. We also factor in how little trauma is done to the patient's body during the process of the surgery, how little blood is lost, how minimal the scarring is, how much the pain is reduced, and how quick the patient's recovery time is. A surgery that resolves the medical issue(s) while enabling the patient to return to his or her life as quickly and healthily as possible is our definition of a successful surgery.
That's why at the Houston Surgical Group we're so committed to staying on the cutting-edge of surgery techniques and technology. We stay at the forefront of both minimally invasive surgical techniques and robotic assisted surgical techniques for weight loss surgery as well as general surgery. Below is a short video detailing some of the technology we use at the North Houston Surgical Association.
The advantages of minimally invasive weight loss surgery and minimally invasive general surgery are many. Firstly, the time a patient spends undergoing surgery is greatly reduced. This helps reduce trauma done to the muscles and other tissues and also helps minimize blood loss. These factors also greatly reduce recovery time, allowing the patient to get back to his or her life. The scarring caused by a minimally invasive surgery is also much less noticeable than the scarring caused by traditional surgery.
Robotic assisted surgery is a form of in which the surgeon uses a computer system to control the surgical instruments. This allows for an incredibly high degree of accuracy, assuring the best possible surgical outcomes. Robotic surgery allows our surgeons to perform many complex procedures with more precision, flexibility and control than standard surgical techniques.
Robotic assisted surgery systems such as the SPIDER, which we use here at the Houston Surgical Group, allows multiple instruments to be used through a single incision. This enables robotic assisted surgery to be minimally invasive. This system can be used to perform a gastric sleeve, gastric band as well as some general surgery procedures.
